New brochure on building automation for energy efficient and sustainable buildings
REHVA and eu.bac have released a brochure outlining how EN ISO 52120‑1 supports EU sustainability requirements through automation functions for heating, cooling, heat pumps and ventilation.
REHVA and eu.bac have jointly published a new brochure on EN ISO 52120‑1, the international standard that assesses the influence of building automation and control systems on energy performance. The publication explains how the standard can support organisations in meeting European sustainability and corporate reporting obligations.
The brochure describes how EN ISO 52120‑1 provides a structured framework for specifying, commissioning and verifying automation functions applied to heating, cooling, pumps and ventilation, as well as other technical building systems. It outlines how the standard helps translate EU policy objectives into practical measures, particularly in relation to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the EU Taxonomy.
According to REHVA, the guide sets out how automation can improve energy use, support the management of indoor conditions and generate reliable data for regulatory compliance and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting. It is intended for building owners, facility managers, engineers and sustainability teams seeking a common reference for performance‑based building automation.
