This online expert workshop forms part of the European Commission’s study 'State of Play of Building Permits for Housing in the EU', commissioned by the Directorate‑General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW). The session will gather permit applicants and industry stakeholders to discuss how administrative efficiency and digitalisation influence housing supply and construction sector competitiveness. The findings will contribute directly to the forthcoming Affordable Housing Plan and related simplification initiatives at the EU level.

Held on Thursday 11 June, the workshop will feature presentations by VTT, Intellera Consulting, and DG GROW, followed by interactive discussions on inefficiencies, digital maturity, and impacts on housing markets. Participants—including developers, designers, contractors, software providers, professional bodies, and researchers—will help validate preliminary results and share practical insights on improving permitting processes across Member States.
