PEDvolution selects three demonstrators to accelerate Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) deployment across Europe

The PEDvolution project has reached a key milestone with the successful completion of its Open Call for additional demonstrators, further reinforcing efforts to accelerate the uptake and replication of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) across Europe.

Launched on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal on 1 May 2025 and closed on 30 June 2025, the PEDvolution project call attracted 15 high-quality applications from eight countries—Belgium, Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, and Slovenia—highlighting the growing momentum for Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) development across diverse and cross-sectoral contexts.

Following a rigorous and transparent evaluation process, three demonstrators have been selected for funding:

  • Mehrgenerationenhaus Giesserei – Oberwinterthur PED (Switzerland)
    Applicant: Gesewo
  • HalNET – Hal PED (Belgium)
    Applicant: Imby SRL
  • Collective Energy Cooperative – Attika PED (Greece)
    Applicant: Collective Energy

The selected demonstrators reflect a diverse portfolio of local conditions, governance contexts, and approaches, contributing to the validation, scalability, and real-world implementation of PED solutions across different urban environments.

As the demonstrators enter the implementation phase, they are expected to generate valuable insights, best practices, and replicable models to support Europe’s transition towards climate-neutral, energy-positive, and citizen-centred districts.

By demonstrating innovative PED solutions in real-life settings, these initiatives will help pave the way for wider replication and mainstream adoption across Europe.
