The Brussels-Capital Region is taking a decisive step toward fossil-free urban infrastructure with the launch of the Be.SHARE project. This pilot initiative will establish an innovative, carbon-neutral heating and cooling network in the North District, transforming how buildings are supplied with thermal energy. The Kick-Off Event, held at Bruxelles Environnement, will convene European and regional officials, urban practitioners, and EU networks to explore the project’s ambitions and delivery framework.
Be.SHARE is co-funded by the European Urban Initiative (EUI), which supports bold, place-based solutions for energy transition and climate resilience. Attendees will gain insight into the technical and governance model, meet project partners, and engage in networking opportunities during the lunch and optional site visit. The event reflects Brussels’ commitment to sustainable urban innovation and its leadership in phasing out fossil fuels across metropolitan districts.
