The future of energy efficiency financing: scaling solutions, unlocking potential

Details of the conference
The latest EU Climate Action and Energy Union progress reports point to a slowdown in building renovation and electrification, at a time when energy and housing affordability and resilience are high on the political agenda. Implementation plans are therefore under scrutiny. If the EU and its Member States are to meet renovation targets, activity must rapidly enter a new phase that is transformative in its contribution to affordability, competitiveness, and climate resilience.
Co‑hosted by SEFA and the Renovate Europe campaign, this webinar will examine how such a transformation can be achieved, focusing on the innovative business models and financial frameworks that are driving the clean energy transition across Europe’s housing, public, and commercial buildings. SEFA members are at the forefront of this shift, deploying new products, financing structures, and market approaches to scale up energy efficiency activity on the ground.
The session will showcase and draw lessons from pioneering models and frameworks developed by SEFA members and partners, highlighting the persistent challenges faced in building markets and structuring new projects, while communicating how front‑runners see the future of energy efficiency financing. It will identify what is now required to scale activity and unlock market potential. It will also mark the launch of a new SEFA campaign designed to galvanise support from policymakers and the financial ecosystem to take concrete steps towards building a strong, investable market for energy efficiency.
Participants will gain insights into how deals are being structured, risks managed, and value created through staged renovation, as well as clarity on the policy environment shaping investment decisions. The event is aimed at institutional asset owners, real estate investors, public estate managers, facilities managers, energy service companies, financial institutions, policymakers, and all those engaged in shaping the future of Europe’s built environment.
