Inclusive renovation: reaching vulnerable groups and tackling energy poverty
Inclusive renovation: reaching vulnerable groups and tackling energy poverty
The event will showcase how renovation initiatives can reduce energy poverty and support vulnerable groups. Drawing on lessons from EU projects, it highlights inclusive strategies, practical tools, and local engagement to build fairer, more resilient communities across Europe.
Details of the conference
The event will explore how renovation initiatives can address energy poverty while ensuring inclusivity for those most at risk. Speakers from Multicare, FORTESIE, Citizen‑Led Renovation (CLR), and SUPERSHINE will share practical approaches and lessons learned from their work across Europe, highlighting strategies to engage hard‑to‑reach communities and create equitable renovation pathways that leave no one behind.
A particular focus will be given to the Citizen‑Led Renovation initiative, which places vulnerable households at the centre of the renovation wave. By combining trust‑building, tailored communication, and accessible technical and financial support, CLR pilots have demonstrated how tools such as energy‑persona workshops, motivation videos, and practical guidance can overcome awareness and trust barriers while enabling socially inclusive and financially feasible renovation pathways.
Drawing on experiences from Belgium, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Spain, the session will showcase how targeted local engagement can reduce energy poverty and strengthen community resilience. Participants will gain valuable insights into how inclusive approaches can deliver both environmental and social benefits, ensuring that Europe’s renovation wave supports healthier, fairer, and more sustainable neighbourhoods.
