The European Commission has launched a call for expressions of interest under the Better Homes Partnerships (BHP) initiative, inviting stakeholders to submit concrete examples of projects, partnerships and replicable solutions that can help accelerate affordable, high-quality home renovations across the European Union. Announced as part of the European Affordable Housing Plan and the Citizens Energy Package, the initiative aims to bring together practical experiences that can be scaled up and replicated across Member States, helping to deliver more sustainable, affordable and energy-efficient homes.

The call focuses on four key areas: demand flexibility through building renovation, simplifying renovation processes, developing innovative financial instruments, and deploying efficient heating and cooling solutions.

Public authorities, housing owners and managers, companies, financial institutions, civil society organisations and consortia involving at least two partners are eligible to apply. Selected initiatives may receive recognition from the European Commission, greater visibility and support in overcoming regulatory, financial or technical barriers. However, the call does not provide direct funding for the selected projects.

The deadline for submissions is 21 August 2026 (23:59 CET).
