Call for abstracts | International Conference on Challenges for the NEXT generation BUILT Environment

The call for abstracts to participate in the 3rd International Conference on Challenges for the NEXT generation BUILT Environment (NEXTBUILT 2026) is now open! The Conference will take place on 4-5 June 2026 in Bologna (Italy).

Lia Marchi

This NEXTBUILT edition particularly calls for insightful contributions that discuss policies, trends, strategies, methodologies, design approaches, and technologies to tackle future needs by overcoming business-as-usual models. Ranging from tangible to intangible means, the Conference seeks contributions in four key topics to share lessons learned, inspirations, and pathways for the NEXT generation of housing:

  • Topic 1: Room for housing: reflecting on affordability, equity, and resilience
  • Topic 2: Livability, comfort and health: reflecting on the nature of the built environment
  • Topic 3: Process workflow and services: reflecting on innovation in the building sector
  • Topic 4: Materials without borders: reflecting on reuse and impacts

Deadline for abstract submission is December 5, 2025.

All accepted contributions will be invited to register for the conference and present their work during the event. Authors will be invited to submit their papers in a book to be published by Springer by the end of 2026.
