The Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations (REHVA) took part in the European Commission’s stakeholder consultation on the Electrification Action Plan and the Heating and Cooling Strategy, organised by the Directorate-General for Energy. The event brought together stakeholders from across the EU to share views on key energy transition initiatives.

REHVA’s Policy and Advocacy Officer presented the organisation’s perspective on both dossiers, addressing challenges related to electricity production and demand and the practical implications for the building services engineering sector. The discussion aimed to feed into upcoming EU policy decisions.

In the session on the Heating and Cooling Strategy, REHVA noted instances where current allocation criteria can result in oversized installations with poor performance. It proposed EU-wide guidelines to prioritise spending on measurable outcomes in building projects.

The consultation contribution underlined REHVA’s interest in promoting solutions that support energy efficiency and decarbonisation in the EU’s building stock, reflecting the expertise of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) professionals and informing future policy design.
