Three Czech municipalities will receive €1.4 million to upgrade public infrastructure. The projects focus on energy-efficient buildings, a new sports hall, and the sustainable transformation of a historic square, delivering positive environmental and social impact.
Three municipalities in the regions of Ústí nad Labem and Moravia-Silesia have been selected to receive European funding through the Public Sector Loan Facility (PSLF), a tool under the Just Transition Mechanism. In total, nearly €1.4 million has been allocated to support three projects focused on public infrastructure, energy efficiency, and social cohesion.
In Postoloprty, the historic town centre will be revitalised with an emphasis on accessibility and sustainability. The redesign of the main square will include urban furniture, bus stops, smart water systems, and efficient lighting, aiming to reduce potable water consumption by up to 40% and energy use by between 30% and 50%.
Dolní Benešov will build a new energy-efficient sports hall, serving both the local community and regional or international events. This infrastructure is expected to contribute to decarbonisation goals and stimulate the local social and economic fabric.
Finally, in Děčín, 16 public buildings—including educational and cultural centres—will be modernised through measures such as LED lighting and advanced energy management systems. The project targets an annual reduction of 181 tonnes of CO₂ and greater integration of renewable solutions.
