The future of energy performance certificates in Europe
Buildings Performance Institute Europe analyses how to strengthen energy performance certificates in Greece, Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria.
The latest reports published by Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE), within the framework of the EPBD.wise initiative, analyse how to improve energy performance certificates (EPCs) in Greece, Poland, Hungary, and Bulgaria to align them with the new European objectives for decarbonising the building stock.
The Greek report examines how to strengthen the current EPC system by improving data quality, enhancing the training of energy experts, and integrating the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI), while also providing more useful recommendations for building owners.
The Polish publication focuses on adapting the national system to the future harmonised EU energy classification and to the objective of achieving zero-emission buildings by 2050, through new quality control mechanisms, greater digital integration and public awareness actions.
The Hungarian document explores how to turn EPCs into more effective tools to support building decarbonisation by simplifying certificate design and strengthening communication and support services for energy renovation.
Meanwhile, the Bulgarian report proposes a roadmap for developing a more reliable and digitalised EPC system by improving energy calculation methodologies, the integration of renewable energy sources, and quality control mechanisms.
