ENERGATE: Report of the final European Event
The ENERGATE final event showed how data standardisation and digital platforms can facilitate the financing of building renovation, connecting projects with investors and reducing risks to accelerate the Renovation Wave in Europe.
The report brings together the key messages from the ENERGATE final event, held during the REHVA Brussels Summit 2025, at a crucial moment for the implementation of the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. The session dedicated to the project focused on one of the main bottlenecks of the Renovation Wave: the difficulty of turning renovation potential into real, large-scale investments.
Throughout the event, it became clear that the problem is not a lack of technologies or political ambition, but rather the absence of reliable, comparable, and structured data that allows investors to assess risks and returns with confidence. In this context, the ENERGATE digital platform was presented as a practical response to the current fragmentation of the market. The tool enables renovation projects to be prepared in a standardised way, integrates energy and financial indicators, incorporates non-energy benefits such as comfort or indoor air quality, and generates documentation aligned with the needs of the financial sector.
The contributions reinforced this vision from different perspectives. Industry highlighted the importance of measuring and verifying real performance, the banking sector stressed the need for homogeneous and predictable documentation, and policy and digitalisation actors underlined the value of aligning regulatory frameworks, data, and user behaviour.
