A framework for digital building logbooks: Drivers of affordable, circular and sustainable built environment
A new poster presented at eceee 2026 outlines how Digital Building Logbooks can improve data management, support policy implementation and enable more efficient resource use across Europe.
Demo‑Blog partners from Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) presented a poster at the eceee Summer Study 2026 in France, examining how Digital Building Logbooks (DBLs) can contribute to a more affordable, circular and sustainable built environment. The presentation highlighted the role of DBLs as central repositories for building‑related data, improving transparency, supporting informed decision‑making and reducing transaction costs throughout the building lifecycle.
The poster explored how stronger interoperability and policy coherence can help unlock the potential of DBLs across Europe. It also summarised findings showing that DBLs can support policy delivery, innovation and more efficient resource use, and that a shared European vision and governance framework are essential to ensure scalability. The analysis presented indicates that the benefits of large‑scale DBL implementation outweigh the costs in all assessed scenarios.
