SUPERSHINE toolkit connects energy, users and buildings
A new European tool proposes integrating energy efficiency, social inclusion, and urban regeneration into building renovation, offering practical guidance to accelerate more accessible, resilient, and replicable upgrades.
The toolkit developed by the European SUPERSHINE project brings together, within a single platform, a wide range of resources designed to support energy renovation processes from an integrated perspective. The tool translates complex technical content into practical guidance aimed at public authorities, housing managers, urban planners, and built environment professionals.
Its approach combines energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and the social dimension, incorporating aspects such as district heating networks, circularity, sustainable mobility, green infrastructure, and strategies to reduce energy poverty. One of its main strengths lies in the integration of behavioural and participatory approaches that help to understand how usage patterns influence the actual performance of buildings.
The toolkit also provides technical factsheets and methodologies applicable across different European contexts, facilitating the replicability of solutions and evidence-based decision-making.
