OpenStudio Analysis Framework supports scalable modelling for building energy analysis
The OpenStudio Analysis Framework enables optimisation and parametric analysis of building energy models through configurable workflows and algorithms for design and retrofit evaluation.
The OpenStudio Analysis Framework (OSAF) provides an open‑source environment for optimisation and parametric analysis of building energy models. It is designed to support architects, engineers, designers and policymakers by offering a defined API and a common workflow that can operate on high‑performance computing systems, cloud infrastructure or standard laptops. The framework enables users to evaluate building improvements across metrics such as energy use, life‑cycle cost, peak demand and indoor environmental quality.
OSAF incorporates algorithms for sensitivity analysis, uncertainty quantification, design optimisation and model calibration. These workflows can be applied to challenges in building design and retrofit processes, including heating and cooling energy optimisation. The architecture uses Kubernetes to coordinate server and worker nodes, allowing multiple analyses to run in parallel through a structured interface.
