On 21–22 April 2026, the 17th BUILD UP Skills European Exchange Meeting brought together more than 70 participants in Brussels, representing 31 LIFE Clean Energy Transition projects. The meeting provided a space for project teams to exchange experiences, strengthen collaboration and reflect on how skills initiatives can better support the clean energy transition across Europe’s built environment.

This edition placed a strong focus on the newly established BUSUnited Communities of Practice, designed to support peer learning and joint problem-solving among practitioners. Discussions explored how these communities can help address shared challenges in areas such as national skills roll-out, demand-side mechanisms, innovative training methods, skills recognition, funding sources, and EU synergies. Participants also reflected on the importance of scaling up successful approaches, improving cooperation across countries, and ensuring that training and qualification systems keep pace with the needs of the building sector.
