The LiveBetter project officially launches with an ambitious mission: to accelerate deep renovation across Europe through better data, smarter digital solutions, and stronger cross-sector collaboration.

Funded by the European Union, LiveBetter brings together expertise and innovation from across the continent to address one of Europe’s most pressing challenges: transforming the existing building stock into a more energy-efficient, sustainable, and future-ready asset.

At the heart of the project lies the development of a Standardised Digital Buildings Hub, designed to unlock the power of high-quality building data and turn it into actionable renovation strategies.

LiveBetter aims to:

• Develop a framework to improve data collection, quality, and interoperability for the harmonisation of building performance data models and standards.
• Deploy and release stand-alone services for building certifications, inspections, and renovations to improve the accuracy of dynamic EPCs and the investment appeal of deep renovations.
• Deploy and release DT-based services for 'performance vs comfort' optimisation, as well as for activation through flexibility management and DR for active, smart-grid-ready buildings.
• Establish the common European digital buildings hub for federated data provision, access, and community-centred market-driven expansion of the EU BSO database
• Accelerate market uptake of LiveBetter services through innovative business models, financial mechanisms, and replication strategies.
• Coordinate projects and initiatives, policy pathways, and stakeholder engagement through skills development, especially for non-tech and hard-to-reach building stakeholders.

• Performance Intelligence:  AI tools that predict and optimise energy use and indoor comfort in real time, helping buildings run better day-to-day with less waste and fewer comfort complaints.
• Smart Certification:  Next-gen EPC services that make certification dynamic, verifiable, and comfort-aware, reducing the gap between “paper performance” and what buildings actually deliver.
• Digital Inspection:  Inspection and audit tools that spot issues earlier and collect evidence faster, using predictive analytics, mobile workflows, and AR support to improve accuracy and decision-making.
• Renovation Planning & Finance:  Decision support for deep renovation, combining building data with technical options and financial simulation to plan interventions and unlock investment-ready renovation pathways.
• Active Building Activation:  Services that turn buildings into grid-ready actors by enabling flexibility management and demand response, improving system stability while lowering operational costs.

By combining advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and cross-project expertise, LiveBetter transforms complex building data into practical solutions that facilitate real renovation action.

LiveBetter builds a strong community of stakeholders across the renovation ecosystem, from technology providers and financial institutions to public authorities and building owners. By fostering cooperation and trust among market actors, the project helps overcome fragmentation and unlock new integrated business models.
