CINEA is strengthening its role in 2026 as an implementing arm of the European Green Deal, with new calls for proposals and a strategy focused on innovation, decarbonisation and the integrated management of climate, energy and mobility programmes.
The European Commission has approved the 2026 work programme of the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), consolidating its position as one of the EU’s main instruments for delivering the European Green Deal.
The document outlines an agenda shaped by industrial decarbonisation, the modernisation of strategic infrastructure and the promotion of climate innovation, with particular emphasis on sustainable mobility, clean energy and territorial resilience. It also includes initiatives linked to the built environment, energy renovation and sustainable neighbourhoods, particularly through the LIFE programme, Horizon Europe and the New European Bauhaus.
Among the key priorities are new calls under the Connecting Europe Facility, Horizon Europe, LIFE and the Innovation Fund, the latter allocating several billion euros to net-zero technologies, hydrogen and clean industrial heat. The programme also includes actions related to energy efficiency in buildings, monitoring of the European building stock and sustainable urban solutions.
At the same time, CINEA will strengthen the connection between funding mechanisms and public policy development through monitoring systems, data analysis and artificial intelligence-based digital tools, positioning cooperation between programmes and knowledge transfer as central elements for accelerating Europe’s green transition and reinforcing industrial competitiveness.
