The 2026 meeting of BUILD UP’s Board of Ambassadors focused on the practical implementation of the EPBD across Central and Eastern European countries, presenting national case studies from Hungary, Poland, Romania and Serbia.
How can EPBD targets translate into stable market signals? At its 2026 meeting in Madrid, the BUILD UP Board of Ambassadors analysed Spain’s National Building Renovation Plan, certification reform and the readiness of the building sector to deliver at scale.
The first Topics of the Month (ToM) for 2026 are set. Focusing on renovation passports, data for EPBD implementation, zero-emission buildings, energy communities and heat pumps, we invite experts and practitioners across Europe to contribute content and share practical insights with the community.
Eight EU Member States have met the deadline of 31 December 2025 and submitted their draft National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs), marking the first concrete step in implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) framework for the decarbonisation of Europe’s building stock.
BUILD UP brought together representatives from the European Commission, the Flemish region in Belgium and other key stakeholders to discuss the implementation challenges and solutions of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) across Member States.
