The European Commission has allocated more than €358 million to 132 projects under the LIFE Programme across several sectors: €225 million (with €147 million from the EU) for nature and biodiversity; €133 million (with €76 million from the EU) for circular economy and quality of life; €96 million (with €58 million from the EU) for climate resilience, adaptation and mitigation; and €82 million (with €77 million from the EU) for clean-energy transition initiatives, including those related to improving the energy efficiency of buildings.

Projects selected include, where relevant, measures that contribute to reducing energy consumption in existing building stock, facilitate renovation planning, and target the integration of energy-efficiency approaches within local and regional contexts. Enhanced energy performance in buildings forms part of the EU’s efforts to meet energy-efficiency targets and decarbonisation commitments.
