The new Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) has strengthened the provisions about the exemplary role of the public sector. Article 5 sets the overall objective of reducing the total final energy consumption of all public bodies by at least 1,9 % each year, when compared to 2021. Article 6 has extended the renovation obligation, previously focused on central government buildings, to all buildings owned by public bodies. In both cases, the scope encompasses public bodies at regional and local levels. 

This increases the need to monitor energy savings in the public sector. This tenth dialogue meeting of streamSAVE Plus will discuss how it can be done:

• First, with the practical example of the long-lasting experience of Finland with its voluntary agreements and energy audits in the public sector.
• Second, with the new streamSAVE+ guidance for standardized savings methodologies & indicative values for the public sector.

This guidance is currently open for comments. The last part of the dialogue meeting will offer participants the possibility to share their views and comments, in view of the final version of the guidance.
