List of projects (10)

The project represented the first phase of the BUILD UP Skills initiative in Romania. The first objective was to gather the key national stakeholders from the energy, education & training and building sectors. Together they formed a National Qualification Platform. The platform mapped the existing workforce and qualification programs, identified future skills needs and analysed which gaps and barriers must be overcome in order to train the workforce and reach the 2020 EU energy targets. Results were bundled in a National Status Quo report. The platform then formulated a National Roadmap of measures to overcome skills gaps and barriers, which was endorsed by key stakeholders.

The project aimed to implement the national skills roadmap developped under the previous Pilar 1 project, through the development of training and qualification schemes for onsite workers and craftspeople.

BUILD Up Skills for mainstreaming long-term renovation of Romanian building stock

BUS4RoBOOST aimed to significantly increase the number of skilled building professionals in Romania by modernizing its national skills roadmap for 2030. The initiative successfully analyzed the current labor market, highlighting the urgent need for cross-craft training in energy efficiency and renewables. As a practical tool available today, the project delivers a comprehensive strategy and dataset that training centers can directly use to design impactful reskilling courses for local workers.

The BUILD UP Skills United (BUSUnited) project, under the LIFE Clean Energy Transition programme, promotes sustainable energy skills in Europe’s construction sector by fostering collaboration, innovative training, and large-scale upskilling to support the EU’s climate-neutral goals.

Enhancing Market Readiness for nZEB Implementation

nZEB Ready aimed to drive the implementation of nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEB) by directly addressing the market's need for highly qualified professionals and reliable technology solutions. The initiative successfully trained a critical mass of workers, spanning from specialized designers and engineers to on-site installers, while actively engaging public authorities to recognize and demand these advanced energy skills in their projects. As a practical resource for experts seeking to upskill today, the project provides a comprehensive set of ready-to-use training modules and technical guidelines specifically tailored for the design, construction, and certification of high-performance nZEBs.

The nZEB Roadshow

nZEB Roadshow utilized innovative mobile exhibition pavilions as active on-site training hubs to tackle the critical skills gap in the construction sector. Through practical demonstrations of nZEB technologies and specialized capacity-building events, the initiative directly trained hundreds of building professionals, designers, and craftspeople. As a result, the project upgraded the workforce's practical competencies in crucial areas like airtightness, ventilation, and insulation, directly connecting newly upskilled professionals with emerging market opportunities.
