The rise in temperatures is driving increased use of air conditioning, but urban adaptation requires a broader approach. Carbon Brief examines why European cities need to combine efficient cooling with passive solutions and climate-responsive planning.

The increasing frequency of heatwaves across Europe has reignited the debate over the role of air conditioning as a climate change adaptation measure.
