The implementation of smart meters and thus of smart buildings has become more and more important in the policy agenda. This type of technology allows the end-users to make informed decisions about their own energy consumption, and it also helps utilities and building managers to make best decision on energy demand and when to scale services.

While the operational energy consumption in low energy buildings is significantly reduced, the embodied GHG emissions of the building materials used in construction can account for half of the life-cycle carbon footprint of the building.

This center for construction skills learning has been delivered by EBBA together with the London Legacy Development Corporation. The school provides the opportunity for local people to be sponsored through practical education and training. The results is an innovative and sustainable solution and adapting architecture.
