Expert talk: Céline Carré

This month, we delve into 'Bridging the data gap in the building sector for full EPBD implementation' with Céline Carré, Head of Public Affairs at Saint-Gobain.

Editorial Team

The interview explores why building renovation remains such a complex challenge in Europe and how better dialogue and data can help overcome fragmentation across the sector. Céline Carré explains how EU-level targets and the EPBD recast provide a shared long-term horizon that helps align diverse stakeholders, while recognising that collaboration on the ground is already accelerating through services such as renovation advice and one-stop-shops.

The conversation also highlights the main barriers slowing down renovation, including fragmented decision-making, lack of policy synchronisation and stop-and-go support schemes. Céline stresses the need for political certainty, stronger use of digital tools and more accessible services such as renovation passports to put building owners at the centre of the process. She also points to National Building Renovation Plans as a key instrument to translate EU ambition into practical, well-financed and future-proof action at the Member State level.
