ENERG Programme: National Development Bank of the Czech Republic
The ENERG Programme by the National Development Bank of Czechia helps businesses invest in energy efficiency through interest-free loans and grants. It funds insulation, renewables, lighting and network upgrades, reducing costs and promoting measurable energy savings.
The ENERG Programme, driven by the National Development Bank of the Czech Republic, aims to make energy efficiency investments easier for businesses in Prague through interest-free loans and complementary support. The initiative covers up to 70% of project costs for measures such as building insulation, replacement of windows and doors, heat recovery systems, modernisation of energy systems, installation of renewables and improvements in lighting and distribution networks. Loans range from CZK 500,000 to CZK 60 million, with a ten-year term and no fees, significantly reducing financial barriers.
In addition, the programme offers incentives such as grants for energy audits and bonuses linked to achieved savings, strengthening the economic viability of green investments. A key element is independent impact verification, ensuring measurable results and simplifying monitoring. Since its launch, the combination of soft financing and technical support has proven effective in mobilising SMEs, particularly those with limited resources. Design adaptations, such as reducing the interest rate to zero and allowing grants to be applied directly to the loan balance, have increased the programme’s accessibility and appeal, aligning it with national and European climate objectives.
