DuMo Monumental Score

DuMo Monumental Score – a structured scoring system for quantifying heritage value in listed buildings as a basis for sustainability assessments.

Anna Wiktorowska

The DuMo Monumental Score, developed by NIBE in the Netherlands, is a tool for assessing the heritage value of listed buildings within a broader sustainability framework. As part of the DuMo method, the Monumental Score is calculated using a structured template that evaluates heritage value across four main categories and related subcategories, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis.

The aggregated score provides a clear and systematic basis for balancing conservation and sustainability considerations. While publicly available, the tool requires qualified experts to ensure consistent and reliable results, and its focus on listed buildings may limit applicability to unlisted heritage assets. The DuMo Monumental Score does not include specific methodologies for improving energy performance but serves as a foundation for subsequent sustainability assessments.
