The Climate Ready Barcelona project, running from 2023 to 2025, aims to strengthen the city’s capacity to adapt to climate change and the energy crisis. Through the development of technological tools, the initiative seeks to enhance municipal energy advisory services, reduce citizens’ climate and energy vulnerability, and provide key data to inform public policy decisions.
Among its core actions are the improvement of the “La Meva Energia” app, the creation of a housing energy vulnerability map for Barcelona, and the formulation of policy recommendations grounded in real data. These tools will enable the city’s Energy Advisory Centres (EAC) and the Barcelona City Council to deliver more effective services, uphold the right to energy, and support policies on energy rehabilitation and sovereignty.
Climate Ready Barcelona thus positions itself as a model of urban intervention focused on energy justice, climate resilience, and evidence-based planning, with the overarching goal of building a more equitable and environmentally prepared city for present and future challenges.
