BUILDING CONVERSATIONS UP WITH... Julie Kjestrup, President of EuroACE and Vice-Chair of the Renovate Europe Campaign. Head of Policy and Thought Leadership, EU and Global at VELUX. 

Julie Kjestrup has been the President of EuroACE since January 2023 and the Vice-Chair of the Renovate Europe Campaign since January 2022. She is also Head of Policy and Thought Leadership for VELUX. Prior to that, she was Head of EU Affairs and interim Global Head of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Danfoss. Julie also headed the Brussels Energy and Environment practice at APCO Worldwide, a global public affairs and strategic communication agency. Julie has extensive experience working on all aspects of advocacy and stakeholder engagement and has witnessed first-hand, and contributed to, the rise of energy efficiency on the European policy agenda over the past few years.

GREENOVET is an international project, comprising 18 European Partners and co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, to promote training and education in green innovation across Europe by establishing centres of professional excellence.

The project focuses on facility management, homeowners and tenants, contributing to a better understanding of environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation measures and retrofitting processes in the building sector. 

This project aims to reduce the causes of fuel poverty, which are high energy costs, energy inefficient buildings and low household incomes. to this end, roadmaps will be designed starting with the worst performing households and a model will be developed to bring as many cases as possible together. 

The BOOSTER project aims to promote the deployment of organic photovoltaic technology, which adopts an eco-responsible approach and has some advantages such as low payback time and the use of abundant resources. 

This platform was created with the aim to increase the necessary knowledge regarding the urban green living environment and to broaden the experience and knowledge of European professionals.

The 3LoE project aims to improve skills in a sustainable way, to strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs working in the field of green economy and to raise awareness of the need for young professionals and entrepreneurs.

The RESPONSE project aims to foster the energy transition of smart cities through a strategic vision of climate-neutral cities by 2050.

BUILDING CONVERSATIONS UP WITH... María López Zambrano, Postdoctoral Researcher at the International Energy Research Centre (IERC) Tyndall/UCC/MaREI.

Dr María López Zambrano has a PhD in Construction Technology and her thesis focussed on developing an Evaluation System for retrofitting solutions for saving energy in Historic Buildings. She is an expert in Building Energy Simulation and a Certified Passive House Designer.

She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the International Energy Research Centre (IERC) Tyndall/UCC/MaREI. With a degree in Building Engineering, a MSc. in Energy Efficiency and Passivhaus, and a PhD in Construction Technology, she is currently working at the IERC in the coordination team of the H2020 MINISTOR project and is a member of the executive board (Heritage & Regeneration) of The European Construction, built environment and energy-efficient building Technology Platform (ECTP). She is also involved in The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) as a committee member at the national TC/40 (Retrofit of existing dwellings) and the European CEN/TC 371 - Energy Performance of Buildings.
