The Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), with the support of the Turkish Presidency of COP31, has launched the International Sustainable Buildings Competition, an initiative designed to recognise and accelerate solutions with a demonstrable impact on the decarbonisation of the built environment.

The competition combines two complementary strands: the YeS Honor Awards, which focus on design quality, sustainable management, materials and the energy performance of buildings, and the World Championship for Energy Savings (WCES), which recognises verified reductions in energy consumption based on real operational data. In this way, the initiative highlights both excellence in project design and the results achieved during the operational phase of buildings.

Aligned with the objectives of the Déclaration de Chaillot, the competition aims to promote the international exchange of good practices and strengthen the transition towards a more efficient, resilient and low-emission building stock. Applications will remain open until 1 October 2026, and the awards will be presented during COP31, which will take place in Antalya (Türkiye).
