Olena Pechak

Biography
Olena holds a PhD Degree from National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Her research was focused on decision support tools that are used in the domains of energy and environmental protection. Before that, she received a Master Degree in Environmental Engineering from National Technical University of Ukraine. She worked in the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine and was coordinating international cooperation in the domain of ecology and was responsible for selection of the projects for GHG emissions reductions.
Between 2007 and 2019 Olena helped to prepare, win and complete several European research projects in the FP6, FP7 and Horizon 2020 programs. These projects were dealing with research domains of (but not limited to) sustainable development, energy and environmental economics, policies for renewable energy support, climate policies, operations research and optimization, routing and planning problems. In parallel to the PhD studies, she was performing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for various industrial installations.
She also gained valuable experience in preparing and working with US research foundations while being a Research Fellow of Decarbonization Task Force at the Institute for Sustainable Energy, Boston University, USA.
At the end of 2023, she joined DOWEL Innovation as a consultant specialized in sustainable development, climate policies, environmental protection, low-carbon technologies and innovation.
She is fluent in French, English, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian.
