On the 12th of March 2025, the second ACCORD Webinar on 'Digital Building Permit tools and methodologies for municipalities and professionals' gathered 57 participants for an interactive exchange on the learning materials produced by ACCORD partners.

Participants and ACCORD partners’ discussions went through the topics of the automation of building permits, the tools for quality checking and the regulations in the different countries.

The survey done on the last part of the webinar showed that all participants are likely to use or might use the training material in the future. On the public authority perspective, participants are positive about the idea and believe that digital/automated compliance checking will improve the quality of the approved projects and reduce errors in the construction phase. On the architects’ side, the most useful tool for preparing IFC files for automated/digital checking would be a harmonised classification system for materials and products. At the same time, they would feel comfortable with sharing the IFC files with the building authority but only within the duration of the permitting process or only with the authority for the bookkeeping of the project data during the lifetime of the building.
