The Affordable Housing Initiative (AHI) is part of the EU's renovation wave strategy, aiming to green buildings, create jobs, and enhance lives by doubling renovation rates in the EU. By 2030, this could result in 35 million renovated buildings and 160,000 green jobs

The initiative focuses on renovating public and inefficient buildings, driving digitalisation and job creation. It includes 100 pilot districts to promote sustainable construction, renewable energy, and community engagement.

The AHI aligns with the European Pillar of Social Rights and supports various EU policies, including the NextGenerationEU recovery plan and the REPowerEU plan.
