AI-driven approach can speed up building decarbonisation

The McKinsey experts stress the urgency of reducing building emissions by cutting 50% of direct and 60% of indirect emissions by 2030. Traditional decarbonisation methods are deemed laborious and expensive, hindered by a lack of centralised inventory and standardisation. In contrast, AI-driven approaches offer over a 100-fold increase in the pace and scale of planning, providing cost-effective solutions. 

The authors propose seven components for optimal building decarbonisation plans, emphasising AI's role in efficient planning. They highlight AI's potential for generating positive returns on investment in real estate portfolios, fostering energy savings, and avoiding regulatory penalties.
