The U.S. Energy Information Administration's latest Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) reveals an important difference in the energy intensity of cooling commercial buildings based on their climate zones.

Buildings in hot or very hot climates (found especially in the southernmost parts of the country) require six times more energy for cooling compared to those in cold or very cold climates.
