Discussing the difficult path toward net zero

The construction industry faces a challenging journey to net zero emissions, requiring substantial investment and global cooperation, as highlighted by the Global Solutions Forum 2024.

The construction industry, a major carbon emitter, faces a crucial shift toward net zero emissions, requiring $1.7 trillion annually until 2050.

Current investment trends show a focus on decarbonising portfolios with many investors setting 2030 targets, potentially raising asset costs. However, differing decarbonisation strategies and a lack of standardised valuation frameworks complicate progress.

The Global Solutions Forum 2024, part of the World Green Building Council’s Leadership Summit, underscored the need for peer cooperation and effective financial incentives to facilitate this transition. Successful change depends on global collaboration and leveraging the built environment to combat climate change.
