As winter approaches in Sion, Valais, Switzerland, residents rely on heat pumps to power the heating of their homes. Even during this unusually warm October, temperatures often dip below 10 °C during the night, signalling the time to start regularly heating the home.

The 45 prosumers, all residential users with heat pumps, who are participating in the Sion demonstration site, will now ramp up their consumption significantly. The residential flexibility management system was installed before it got cold so that the residents could start the new winter prepared. With all of this added load from heating, the system will be put to a proper test in the coming months.
