The Joint European Parliament (EP)–European Commission Conference on Affordable Housing launched a public debate tackling Europe's housing crisis head-on. With prices and rents skyrocketing, the conference highlighted the urgent need for new policies and investments to make housing more accessible. 

Key figures like Irene Tinagli, Chair of the EP Special Committee on Housing, and European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen led the discussions, stressing the importance of collaborative efforts across all levels of governance.

Participants from various sectors, including EU institutions, local authorities, and housing stakeholders, shared insights and proposed solutions. The event underscored the necessity of addressing bottlenecks in the construction process and boosting funding for sustainable housing projects. Everyone agreed that while the housing crisis is a European issue, solutions must be tailored to national and local contexts.
