ENEA's energy-saving tips for efficient air conditioning

05 August 2024
ENEA recommends maintenance, efficient models, strategic use, and combining with photovoltaics to save energy and costs on air conditioning in Italian homes.

ENEA suggests 14 actions to save on air conditioning in Italian homes, where 48.8% of families use AC, mostly mono-splits, for an average of six hours daily.

Key tips include regular maintenance, choosing high-efficiency inverter models, using tax incentives, and optimal placement of units. Keeping shutters closed during peak heat, avoiding overcooling, and ensuring proper insulation and timer use are crucial. Combining AC with photovoltaic systems and conducting energy diagnoses can further enhance efficiency.

Understanding heat pump operations, which transfer heat rather than 'create' cold, is essential for maximising benefits and reducing energy waste.
