Energy passports, obligatory for all buildings in Serbia

All buildings in Serbia will soon be required to possess energy passports, rather than just new ones.

All buildings in Serbia will soon be required to hold energy performance certificates, not only new constructions as has been the case to date. This obligation is part of a proposed new law on planning and construction, which aims to improve energy management, reduce wastage, and bolster sustainable practices throughout the nation for long-term benefit nationwide.

The legislation sets firm deadlines: public buildings must comply by August next year, businesses by August 2028, and residential properties by 2033. Once issued, an energy performance certificate remains valid for ten years, fostering continual energy efficiency improvements.
