EPC schemes for certification and energy renovation of buildings
In this third wound of national workshop, national and EU policy recommendations and practical implementations of EPC schemes in different countries were discussed.

QualDeEPC discussed national and EU policy recommendations at the third round of national workshops. In May/June 2022, the consortium partners from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Spain, and Sweden each hosted the third round of national workshops with the National Expert Fora (NEF). The main aim of this round of workshops was to gain feedback from experienced practitioners on the nationally adapted concepts of enhanced EPC schemes. The project’s EU policy recommendations for the recast of the EU Directive on the energy performance of buildings (EPBD) were also discussed. A variety of stakeholders, such as energy consultants and auditors, EPC-practitioners, policy makers, energy experts, and representatives from finance and economic sectors, energy agencies, building manager associations participated in the national workshops. During the workshops, several proposals and tools elaborated throughout the project were discussed. The objective behind is their potential introduction into processes and regulations for certification and energy renovation of buildings at national level and in the EPBD.
At the sixth partner meeting in Riga on June 27th/28th, the consortium partners reported on their na-tional workshops and drew conclusions. Among them:
The participants were in agreement with most of the proposals;
Interesting suggestions were noted, such as to prioritize renovation recommendations in the sense of staged (deep) renovation, or to include more graphs into the proposed EPC template, as well as fuel costs;
Some challenges were collected, such as the reorganisation of ministries in some countries (eg. in Hungary and Germany), making it difficult to bring QualDeEPC’s recommendations to the table; or currently high building and renovation costs, high and volatile energy prices, creating uncertainty in predicting any financial payback time or rate of return on renovation investments;
There are some Deep Renovation Network Platforms (DRNPs) and online tools for self-calculation of energy savings options on national level already implemented.
