The European Union will contribute €9.5 million in grants to support credit lines under the EBRD Green Economy Financing Facility for residential energy efficiency renovations in Moldova.

This initiative aims to lower energy bills for homeowners, enhance energy security, and reduce Moldova's overall energy consumption. Participating banks will offer loans for improvements like insulation, heat pumps and solar panels, with EU-funded cashback incentives upon completion.

Moldova, significantly more energy-intensive than the EU, targets energy efficiency in buildings to curb waste and costs, with successful examples showing up to 40% bill savings in upgraded multistorey blocks.
