Europe rewards green innovation: The LIFE Awards 2025 spotlight projects leading the ecological transition
The LIFE Awards 2025, to be held on 3 June in Brussels as part of EU Green Week, will honour outstanding projects in nature restoration, climate change adaptation, and the circular economy. This year’s edition stands out for the quality and impact of its finalists, selected for their ability to deliver innovative, replicable solutions that contribute to the European Union’s environmental objectives. In addition to the three main categories, Nature Protection and Biodiversity, Circular Economy and Quality of Life, and Climate Action, the ceremony will also feature the LIFE Citizens’ Prize, chosen by public vote, and the Rising Star Recognition, focused on circular economy excellence.
Among the finalists are projects such as LIFE Lynx, which supports the recovery of the Alpine lynx in Slovenia and Croatia; LIFE EMERALD, which developed Ireland’s first air quality forecasting system; and NATURAL HVACR 4 LIFE, promoting sustainable air-conditioning systems in Belgium. The awards will be judged by a high-level panel of experts in environmental governance, science communication, and EU climate policy.
The LIFE Awards 2025 not only celebrate technical excellence but also highlight the vital role of local innovation in driving Europe’s ecological transition.
