First real-scale Active Window System prototypes by Cultural-E project

The Active Window system (AWS) aims at transforming windows into active elements and thus enhancing energy efficiency, indoor air quality and user comfort. The first real-scale AWS prototypes have been developed by Eurofinestra (part of Cultural-E project consortium) and have been installed in the outdoor laboratories of Eurac Research to undergo a series of tests.
Two mock-ups have been produced: one conceived for cold climates with vacuum-insulated glazing (VIG), and a second one for mild climates with double-glazing. Both have three different configurations depending on the ventilation mode.
