The Interreg VIOLET project aims to support the renovation and improvement of energy performance of heritage buildings which need specific interventions to become more efficient. Indeed they are made by old-fashioned techniques and materials which are not easily replaceable or improvable without preserving the building.

The project has made some progress towards reaching its main goals and some of these include:

• the Cyprus Energy Agency has had an impact on the national law to include the performance of heritage buildings, establishing also a guide for professionals, authorities and the general public
• The Regional Ministry of Development, Infrastructures and Territorial Planning of Andalusia, Spain has also influenced the inclusion of funding for the renovation of historical buildings
