Hydrogen heating might not be the best solution for the path to net-zero

Scientists have warned the Scottish Government that the discussion to use hydrogen to heat homes may not be the right path towards net-zero. Indeed, mass deployment of hydrogen heating would only be possible from 2035 onwards, which would be too late for climate´s targets. Moreover, this type of technology is more expensive than heat pumps.
As upfront costs to switch to hydrogen are lower compared to heat pumps, scientists claim that it is important to not let consumers think that hydrogen is the solution to decarbonisation.
