Increasing standards in Malta building industry

Developers and architects have joined forces to increase standards of buildings in Malta.
Giulia Leghissa

Developers and architects have joined forces to lobby the government jointly to increase standards in the construction industry. In fact, as highlighted by president of Kamra tal-Periti (KTP) Andre Pizzuto, the industry needs higher standards and better trainings, putting more effort on self-regulation.

Developers and KTP have worked together to introduce a new requirement for all new buildings in Gozo to have a limestone facade. Moreover, new building council´s priorities have been highlighted:

  • build more environmentally friendly buildings

  • improve standards to protect third parties during construction

  • provide more education and training for workers

  • make sure building materials are up to standards
