Infinite project: case study of sustainable building retrofit in Slovenia
The H2020 Infinite project focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings, a major contributor in the EU, by promoting sustainable renovations.
A case study in Ravne na Koroškem, Slovenia, showcases a 1982 building undergoing retrofitting with eco-friendly solutions. The renovation includes prefabricated façade panels, energy-efficient windows, air ventilation systems, and solar panels, improving energy efficiency and reducing costs.
Although the upfront cost is higher, benefits like lower energy consumption and rent stability for residents are evident. This project is a model for future sustainable building renovations, emphasising the potential of prefabrication and energy-efficient technologies.
