LIFE projects to rate smartness of buildings

Four LIFE projects are driving progress to make buildings smarter and more efficient.
Editorial Team

Europe buildings are nearly 75% energy inefficient, posing a challenge to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. The Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) evaluates buildings' energy performance and flexibility, and it is now being tested in several EU countries.

LIFE CET projects like EasySRI, Smart Square, SRI2MARKET, and SRI-ENACT support SRI rollout by providing insights, tools, and training. These initiatives aim to integrate SRI into national regulations, engage stakeholders, and train auditors. Successful implementation requires skilled practitioners and awareness-building efforts. SRI promises to enhance energy efficiency across Europe's diverse building stock, contributing to climate resilience.
