Natural ventilation: key to healthier urban living in Bangladesh

Natural ventilation is crucial for public health in Bangladesh's urban areas, where high-rise buildings and congested alleys often neglect its benefits, despite rising concerns over respiratory and mental well-being, exacerbated by reliance on air conditioners and limited ventilation in modern urban flats.

In Bangladesh's urban landscape, dominated by high-rise structures and narrow alleys, natural ventilation is often overlooked despite its critical role in public health. With concerns over respiratory and mental well-being growing, understanding and implementing natural ventilation becomes crucial.

In tropical environments like Bangladesh, where heat and humidity prevail, reliance on air conditioners poses health risks due to poor indoor air quality.

Traditional architectural designs with natural airflow mechanisms, seen in rural areas, contrast with modern urban flats prioritising space over ventilation, exacerbating health issues like indoor air pollution and respiratory ailments. Embracing natural ventilation is essential for healthier, more sustainable urban development.
